MILAN 2024 – A Multilateral Naval Exercise scheduled from 19-27 Feb 2024:
Indian Navy is organizing the 12th edition of Multilateral Naval Exercise MILAN 2024, scheduled from 19-27 Feb 24 at/off Visakhapatnam, ‘the City of Destiny’, under the aegis of Eastern Naval Command. Where 51 friendly nations are participating in this the largest multilateral naval exercise. Out of these 51 countries 15 countries are sending ships and one aircraft is also joining the exercise. Some are sending their delegations.
Participating Nations: US, Japan, Australia, France, Bangladesh, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Italy, Brazil, Malaysia etc.
Indian Navy ships, aircraft and submarines led by Indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and 20-25 Foreign Naval Units will participate in large force manoeuvres advanced air defence operations, Anti Submarine warfare, Anti Surface warfare operation and War at Sea.
MILAN, a Multilateral Naval Exercise hosted by India, made a modest beginning in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in 1995. The navies of Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand participated in this edition. It provides a platform for participating navies to discuss Maritime subjects of common interest and share solutions.
Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti (Deputy Chief, Indian Navy) was asked about participation of China in this exercise in an interview, replied that its an open event any country which wants to participate may participate.
