As the pitch flattened out under the sun to provide nothing for the English bowlers, the visitors were forced to work with their field settings and try different angles with their bowling. But nothing seems to have worked out.
For more than one spell, express pacer Mark Wood, who rocked India twice early, barraged Rohit with a deep fine leg and deep square leg in place. Rohit sharma was not finding any difficulties playing him too but in 64th over Wood delivered a shot ball which forced Rohit to play a pull shot but the ball did not travelled more and went straight to the English skipper Ben Stokes’s hand and scores tally said Rohit c Stokes b Mark Wood 131(196) [4s-14 6s-3]. After Rohit’s wicket, debutant Sarfaraz Khan came at number 5 and did not waste any time and started playing extra ordinary shots he made his carrier’s first fifty on his debut match in just 48 balls. while he was playing tremendously Ravindra Jadeja driven to mid-on and Jadeja took a couple of steps down, then turned the single down, Sarfaraz had no chance getting back once Wood took aim and hit the single stump on view. A bonus wicket for England.
Jadeja wanted to get to the 100 and Sarfaraz was happy to help him get there, but it has gone badly for India. Sarfaraz who was looking so good has to go in unfortunate circumstances. Rohit watching on, flings his cap in disgust and utters the famous Ben Stokes expletive as he takes out his frustration. Sarfaraz Khan run out (Mark Wood) 62(66) [4s-9 6s-1].
On the next ball of the over Jadeja took 1 run and scored 4th Ton of his test carrier but no big celebrations apart from the typical sword-swirl.
